Don’t Throw Snow Without Your ‘Toes’
By Mister Safetytoes
It was a great winter until the snow came down. I wore my safetytoes again while clearing around my house and had the same good experience. It’s important to feel safe underfoot when working in snow. The confidence helps anchor me when I’m out there clearing steps and walkways.
Injuries due to slips and falls are a significant part of total mishaps in the home and garden. Not only do you need good grip and traction but whatever you are wearing has to be a good fit. This alone accounts for many accidents.
The rubber material in my safetytoes made me feel quite safe and I was able to deal with a few days snowfall that had hardened on steps and in narrow passage ways. Each time I re-entered the house I simply pulled off my ‘yellow dot mediums’, turned them upside down and left them to dry on the boot mat at the backdoor of my house.
My shoe size is 42 European and the ‘yellows’ allow me to wear my fancy pair of well insulated boots. The sturdy safetytoes fit snugly and are easy to pull on and slip off. In fact, I can now put them on with only a minimum of manual effort. The rubber material is always flat on the ground and I can slip the front of my outer shoe into the safetytoes and press against a wall or door to the point where I only need to tug on the rear pull-on tab to finish the job.
This made my whole experience with clearing snow and ice around the house so much more enjoyable. I even took the time to deal with the snow and ice on my car and refill my washer fluid reservoir. Not bad, considering that it was minus 14 degrees below!
So remember, “Don’t throw snow without your ‘toes”.
Protect your piggies.
